A friend once told me that like a cat with 9 lives, I always seemed to land on my feet. Thus cursed, there followed a first rapid fall from grace, but as is the nature of things, so also began in earnest a concerted, if somewhat chaotic research of the myriad conflicting elements of self, meaning and acceptance.
9 Lives is a brief accounting of my first years of intended, albeit unexpected artistic expression.

This website draws a line in the sand of what has come through to this point, a catharsis of sorts and to some extent, brings closure. What will follow is anyone's guess, but ideas abound.
The context remains the same - my work aspires to a resonant aesthetic, but more to a sincere process that seeks a pure connecton with the creative force that resides within and without us all, a universal force that binds us together on this cosmic journey.
This work is the product of a personal exploration of the mysteries of life, the self and the sacred and my ultimate, intimate and smiling surrender to the unseen symphony that underpins all that is.
This website is a love letter to this sacred existence. Please take it all with a light heart.

My work to date comprises sculpture and installations with stone and wood, monumental land art, spontaneous photography using a smart phone combined with primitive editing, adaptations and recontextualisations of furniture elements, everyday objects and other peoples' trash.
So long as a connection is felt, so long as the fool within is activated, the bull, the mule and the heavens all seem
willing accomplices in each new adventure into the creative unknown.

The view of creativity being the preserve of but a few fringe disruptors is now surely and utterly obsolete as a concept. Creativity is not something that only others do but is rather a universal force in which we can all freely share, it is a fundamental and higher energy aspect of consciousness and as such, each of us possesses a unique ability to create, to express, to imbue life and matter with significance.
Creating art stems from an inexorable urge to profoundly explore a theme, a certain courage of conviction to express one's process or conclusions and quite likely a foolhardy presumption that one has something valid to say, something that might contribute positively to the evolution of society, if not necessarily to one's bank balance.
Whatever the underlying motivation, creating art opens up a dialogue with anyone who experiences or sees the 'result' of any given exploration and it is this inevitable, pure reaction, whether comprehension or incomprehension, love or hate, resonance or ridicule, that demonstrates that the art in question has already served its purpose in being an active agent of connection and transformation.
There is no cure for infection, no going back, one cannot unsee or rewind the tape. Intertwined as we are in this chaotic evolution, onwards all then into the creative unknown.​​
